The Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

In partnership with StartUP Sault Ste. Marie, Dr. Rebek is conducting a study to better understand entrepreneurial experiences, challenges, and available supports in Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding communities.

The study fills an important gap, as little is known about entrepreneurial ecosystems in small, resource-based communities in Northern Ontario. The findings will help key local partners, including support organizations, post-secondary institutions, and government agencies, make informed decisions.

The study also complements the community’s Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) program by providing timely, local evidence. This information will help policymakers and support organizations create community-focused programs that strengthen local entrepreneurs and support economic growth.
